COMMUNIQUÉ​

The librarians of all our schools attended the National Conference for librarians CONEXGENLIB’18 organized by Anna Centenary Library on 2nd and 3rd Feb’18. The conference  provided a platform to connect, discuss, share and analyse the key issues under the following sub-themes :

1.        Changing dimensions of Public Libraries and Library Professionals

2.        Public Library Policies and Guidelines: Issues and Challenges

3.        Innovative Trends and Digital Technologies

4.        Innovative Library Services

5.        Intellectual Property Rights

The session started with the keynote address by Dr. A.R.Venkatachalapathy (Professor, Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai). In his talk, he referred to Librarians as an Information Officer. Each and every Librarian should have self - esteem. He concluded his speech by telling if there is hell and heaven there is a separate place for Teachers and Librarians who fail in their duty. The conference was inaugurated by lighting of kuthuvilakku by our Honourable Chief Minister of School Education Mr K A Sengottaiyan and the Presidential Address was delivered by Mr.PradeepYadav, IAS  (Principal Secretary to Govt. SchoolEducation Dept.). The souvenir of the conference was released by the Minister of School Education. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. S Nagaraja Murugan (Joint Director, Directorate of Public Libraries) at the valediction. The Valedictory address was given by  Dr. D. Jagannathan, IAS(Managing Director, TN Textbook and Educational Service).
